COVID-19 Update to Our Orinda Parks and Rec Family:
Due to the dwindling supply of hospital beds for patients who need intensive care in the Bay Area, the state has applied a regional stay-at-home order across the nine-county region to slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent the region's hospitals from becoming overwhelmed.
Contra Costa and five other Bay Area jurisdictions used local health orders to enact all of the features of the state order at the beginning of December, before local hospitals were critically impacted. The state order went into effect in the Bay Area, including Contra Costa, at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, December 17. At that time, Contra Costa lifted its local order because it became redundant with the state's. The state's regional stay-at-home order lasts a minimum of three weeks. Given this information, the City of Orinda has cancelled all facility reservations through January 2021.
