COVID-19 - A Letter from Mayor Gee

Protecting Public Health is Our Top Priority

City staff have been monitoring the information disseminated by the Contra Costa County Health Services, California Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO). The information and actions that were deemed appropriate at the time, continued to evolve. The Orinda community’s health and safety remained and will always remain at the core of our decisions. Regardless of what we’re faced with, Orinda will always strive to provide excellent service in a fiscally responsible manner and to promote a safe, healthy and vibrant community.

Given the recent direction from Contra Costa Health Services as of March 16, 2020Contra Costa Health Services has ordered a shelter-in-place for all community members within the county. The order shall became effective at 12:01 a.m. on March 17, 2020 and will continue to be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020, or until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended.
