Apply to Serve on a City Commission or Committee

There are currently open positions to be filled on the following City Committee’s and as representatives on Regional Boards:

·     Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (one position)

The seven-member Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC) meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  The Committee is an advisory body to the City Council on matters relating to neighborhood and citywide traffic safety.  This Committee is responsible for the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. 

·    Historic Landmarks Committee (one position)

The five-member Historic Landmarks Committee (HLC) meets on the second Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at 3:00 p.m.  The Historic Landmarks Committee is an advisory body to the City Council and may establish a list of proposed historic landmarks for recommendation to the Planning Commission; disseminate information to the public concerning preservation and enhancement of historic landmarks; encourage and advise property owners of proposed or designated historic landmarks about the preservation and enhancement of the landmark; and recommend to the Planning Commission and City Council policies and regulations necessary to administer and enforce the historic landmark ordinance.

·    County Library Commission (one Orinda representative)

The Contra Costa County Library Commission meets on the 4th Thursday every other month at 7pm.  It was established by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in March 1991. The Commission was created to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian. The Library Commission has eighteen members representing most cities in Contra Costa County.

·    County Connection Citizens Advisory Committee (one Orinda representative)

This Committee meets bi-monthly on the second Tuesday at 1pm.  The primary purpose of the Advisory Committee is to review, analyze, and advise the County Connection Board of Directors on issues and policies relating to fixed-route and paratransit service. Committee members also act as a citizen liaison from the represented jurisdiction.

Interested citizens are encouraged to apply by filling out and returning a Statement of Interest (application) by May 21, 2021, when the Mayor will review those applications and consider appointments.   Completed Statements should be submitted to the City Clerk at or by mail to 22 Orinda Way.

The City also accepts Statements of Interest throughout the year and keeps them on file to consider when filling vacancies or for the yearly appointment process, which is held in January/February to fill upcoming term expirations.
